Thaan charcoal is relatively smokeless and is a lower-cost alternative to Ebisu grade Binchotan charcoal. It's a more sustainable product in that it's a byproduct of Rambutan fruit trees instead of slow-growing oak. If you're currently using or have used a Binchotan charcoal, you owe it to yourself to try this product. Burn time is 4.5-5 hours.
This is very clean-burning charcoal and will require less hood and stove maintenance than using mesquite or hardwood charcoals. With an extremely low moisture content, you won't get sputtering and popping which adds soot and embers to your food. The bricks are extruded and quite dense, which ensures even and consistent burning.
