Wood Ear Mushrooms are used for their chewy texture, they can be added to soups, or stir-fries. They will happily absorb any flavors and are commonly used in asian cuisine! To rehydrate, soak mushrooms in hot water for at least 20 minutes or until pliable.
Rinse the mushrooms one by one under the sink and massage under the water until clean. Chop or thinly slice mushrooms for your recipe. We recommend you only rehydrate what you need, as Rehydrated Wood Ear Mushrooms are best used immediately for that meal only. Rehydrated Woodear do not have a long shelf life.
To rehydrate, the fungus should be soaked in water for at least half an hour. Wood Ear mushrooms pair well with potatoes, fermented black beans, green onions, onions, ginger, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, sesame oil, cilantro, parsley, bay leaves, allspice, snow thistle, cucumber, bamboo shoots, green peas, tofu, pork, ham, shrimp, and crab. They should be used immediately and will only keep for a couple of days when wrapped in paper towels and stored in the refrigerator.

Wood Ear mushrooms are commonly for their chewy texture rather than their mild taste and are a popular textural element in many Asian soup dishes.
